Weekly Website Whip-around

Spring is nearly here and the sneak peak Mother Nature has provided Sydney recently has really got me into the “Spring Cleaning” mood early this year. I love packing away all my bulky winter clothes and clearing space in my wardrobe for a fresh and vibrant Spring wardrobe. But Spring cleaning isn’t only about the clothes, I have also looked and cleaning my body after the many winter feasts it has endured over the colder months.

Lately I have been looking into clean eating and organic food more (yes Amolaya you are starting to rub off on me!) in an attempt to eradicate my frame of the horrid winter wobbles.

In addition, I have also been focussing on finally clearing out the clutter that is encasing my apartment. I have almost finished my spare room with the living room next on my list. With all these preparations, it’s no wonder my internet browsing history resembles a bookshop’s “How To” section!

Weekly Website Whip-around

This week I have been trawling the internet for some inspiration to liven up my apartment in time for spring, since it is the season of regeneration and all. And speaking of spring and its impending arrival, I am so excited to start planning out my Spring/Summer wardrobe! Anyway, here are the websites I have been checking out this week:

WWW

  1. I have been meaning to transfer my photos into photo books for over a year now and these albums have finally given me the inspiration
  2. How adorable are these nails
  3. Spring is the season of new beginnings and this year my apartment is going to get a little spring make over, I am currently loving the tropical chic look – pineapple lamps, palm print cushions and definitely cocktails!
  4. I love to cook, but I have a particular style of cooking and I tend to stick to it. So I was really excited when one of my lovely friends informed me of the cooking classes held at William-Sonoma. I would really love to learn a new cuisine.
  5. If you weren’t front row at the recent David Jones Spring/Summer show, then you have to check this out. I am now obsessed with Jessica Gomes, vivid prints and monochrome swimsuits!
  6. If you are a cricket fan and you have been watching the Ashes, then you have to watch this youtube clip – hilarious!
  7. I am always up for a hybrid bakery treat (cronut anyone?), so when I saw this article on Refinery29, I decided to make it my mission to track one of these “Townies” down

Spring Collection 2012

I remember when I was a little girl, the approach of warmer weather meant that my mother would take down all our Spring/Summer clothes that had been stored away in the back of our wardrobes at the beginning of the cooler months. It was like going on a shopping spree without even leaving my bedroom.

Swimmers, summer dresses, shorts and sandals would overflow across my bed and I would immediately begin pulling complete outfits from the stockpile. A fashion parade ensued for my mum, determining what still fit, what was to throw out and what would need to be replaced.

Then came my favorite part. I would carefully scour the pages of the latest David Jones, Grace Bros (now that’s showing my age!) and Target catalogues which had recently arrived in the post. These would feature their current spring collections and I would thoughtfully circle the items that would help complete my reinstated wardrobe.

I no longer have this ritual, partly because of my afore-mentioned laziness, however this year I have decided to make a conscientious effort to plan my purchases in advance. Here are my top six picks for Spring:

  1. Crisp White

2.    Floral Prints

3.    Coloured Jeans

6.     Metal Cap Pumps

L-R: Louis Vuitton; Lucchesi Hundred from Zomp; Zara; Zara; Christian Louboutin

Now that I have a plan, let’s just hope I can stick to it. I am notorious for jumping the gun and buying god knows what in a moment of frustrated weakness. On a positive note, however, I managed to score a bargain last weekend at Cotton On. I bought the first item off my Spring Collection list. I am now the proud new owner of a beautiful pair of pale pink skinny jeans with zipper detail on the ankles. I can’t wait to wear these on Friday to work – pictures to come.

I desperately want to get my hands on some floral fantasticness so this may be next on my hit list. I really want a pants suit. That way I can mix and match with other items from my wardrobe or wear in one floral hit.

What’s everyone else coveting for Spring?

Flowers

Flowers always make me smile. They brighten any room and always leave a subtle perfumed air. The other day my boss, a middle aged man (who hates the colour pink) requested that I organise floral arrangements for the upcoming conference I am organising to make the room more welcoming to our guests. Whilst my manager and I had a little giggle at this unusual request, it got me thinking to the importance and presence a good floral arrangement can bring to any occasion – even a conference for a bunch of blokey men!

I have so many favourite flowers I could probably fill a book, I thought I would take a moment to share some of my favourites arrangements I have discovered.

L-R Pink Hydrangea from crushculdesac; Orange Peony from Pintrest; Fresh cut flowers from teatimemagazine; Poppy’s from Ruche

The beauty of the flowers means that you don’t need expensive vases to hold them, you can use old milk bottles, jars, jugs, tins or just about anything that is water tight.

I love little pleasures that are inexpensive 🙂
